Systems Support Engineer
Based in our Edinburgh office, the role involves supporting clients using mainly the following:
Microsoft 365 Business
On premise Microsoft servers
Support for clients is over the phone, remotely using TeamViewer on client PCs, Macs and servers, and on site at the clients’ premises in and around Edinburgh, Glasgow and in between, so the candidate will need their own transport.
The role also requires experience of networks, routers, WANs and LANs, desktop and server hardware, Apple & Android phones, and Windows client and server operating systems. We also support users with macOS, so experience of this would be of benefit, but not essential.
Especially important is being able to communicate with the client, in language they can understand, keeping them updated with any ongoing work, and giving them advice on how best use their IT.
The ideal person for the role would have an interest in and knowledge of IT, and be able to hold a conversation with a client who may or may not have any technical knowledge, adjusting the language according to their grasp of IT jargon. Having lengthy experience is not necessary if you’re a quick and keen learner.
